DEBORAH K. BRUECKHEIMER has been handling criminal appeals for the 14-county Second District of Florida since October 1, 1981. On August 1, 1989, she was made Chief of the Appeals Division for the Tenth Judicial Circuit Public Defender's Office; and she is currently holds that position. During those years Ms. Brueckheimer has prepared over 750 appeals and argued over 70 cases in oral argument before the Florida Supreme Court and other appellate courts in Florida.
She has given numerous seminars on appellate law including: preserving error for appellate review, the procedure for trial attorneys in filing a criminal appeal, and extraordinary writ practice. She was a speaker at the 1995 Edward F. Boardman Criminal Practice Conference sponsored by the Stetson University College of Law and the Second District Court of Appeal, a speaker at the Spring 1998 Defender College II sponsored by the Florida Public Defender Association and Stetson University, and the Appellate Public Defender Seminars in Tallahassee 1999 and Daytona 2001.
Her undergraduate bachelor of arts degree is a double major in English (with honors) and political science from Lewis University, Romeoville, Illinois, in 1976; and she received her J.D. degree from Stetson University, St. Petersburg, Florida, in 1979. |
